The basic problem in this country today is the political confusion. People don’t know whether to be afraid of the right or the left. They don’t know whether they themselves belong on the right or on the left, so they just say, Fuck it, throw up both hands, take acid trips, freak out on weed and pills - alcohol is still with us - people feel that they just can’t deal with the situation. And that’s because, I believe, the people have been consciously manipulated to that end.
