What’s annoying me is that if you do a google news search on Burma you’ll find articles on everything news outlets like BBC and Times say, but you’ll never see newspapers like The Irrawaddy show up, even though the Irrawaddy’s a Burmese paper and can give more accrate commentary on issues in Burma, as well as reflect what the people there are thinking, and so forth.

But the news, when you look it up, all say things about how the US is happy about being able to invest in Burma and how they think it’ll do Burma good, and conveniently leave out the concern that Burmese have voiced over that, and how it leads to the land- by the wealthy and the land sold, illegal, but who stops them? And then we have the whining about things like “we didn’t know what the Burmese are saying, or what they want” and pretending the protests there are all “pointless” and just trying to stir up trouble instead of actually addressing real issues.

Goodness.
