So the headlines right now say things like “Anger Over a Film Fuels Anti-American Attacks in Libya and Egypt” and “American State Department Officer Killed in Libya Consulate Attack; Cairo Embassy Also Stormed in Protest Over Film” but no one cares to mention how utterly Islamophobic the film is. And how 9/11 is a day brown people and Muslims get treated like complete crap for things they never did, how it’s a really bad, really stressful day.

Heck, even that aside, seriously, NONE of them are talking about how totally Islamophobic the thing is? ABC news actually goes “Jones today said in a statement that the film was actually titled “Innocence of Muslims” and was intended not to attack Muslims but to show the “destructive ideology of Islam.”” As if the first half of that sentence doesn’t contradict the second, and as if we’re not tired of being told how “destructive” Islam is. The only thing that’s destructive is people’s Islamophobic ignorance.

The video in question is this one, titled “Muhammed Movie Trailer”. Don’t look at the comments. Seriously. And there is brownface in the video.

By all means, mourn the deaths, all life is precious. And Islam is against violence, so this upsets me. But don’t report a skewered news that twists realities and makes all Muslims look like villains.
