The regular rant: I am absolutely disgusted at everything in the ‘Burma’ and ‘Myanmar’ tags on Tumblr, and by disgusted, I don’t mean “oh my gosh the Burmese Buddhists are horrible let’s save the Rohingya” which seems to be the theme in those tags but I’m absolutely appalled and disgusted at the amount of misinformation that’s in those tags. Yes, the Rohingya are persecuted, no Buddhists aren’t cold blooded murderers, no, it’s not a matter of religion, it’s a matter of nationality. The issue itself is horrifying, but it’s disgusting that people twist it around with misinformation and sensationalism.

I can’t even argue with that many people, and I’m sure I even want to. There was a point where there were one or two of those posts between everything else about Burma, but now it’s like that’s all there is. And it’s not even strictly true. I can’t even track those tags anymore, the people who post there make me feel sick.
