So true! I’ve gotten so used to sitting at a table for meals that when we go to India and occasionally have meals on the floor/ veranda I can’t get comfortable on the floor. I shift, twist and squirm so much that my relatives start making fun of me!

When we were back in Burma for a couple years (moved away, then back) we ate around a table and when we came here we still ate around a table but our family’s big so eventually we had to get rid of the table (small-table-little-room dilemma) and oh my goodness I was so out of practice. Now I’m better at doing the whole one-leg-tucked in thing but I realized I’d been eating rice with spoons and now I have to make a concious effort to get myself to practice eating rice with my hands too (chapatti with hands is a given). Totally envy my grandma who eats everything with her hands and looks completely regal doing it.
